Wirelessly coonecting two computers?

Despite having a good knowledge of computers/technology I find myself completely ignorant in this one area, and so I'll ask.

I have a wireless adapter card in each of the two computers, is this all I need or do I need more?

And how do I go about networking them?

Wirelessly coonecting two computers?internet

well you can do what they said and purchase a wireless switch or you can buy two wireless dongles (blue tooth) which all you initially have to do is connect them (to the computer) and find them (on your computer).

Wirelessly coonecting two computers?network

If you run Vista and have Wi-Fi, you can do the following:

Click the Start orb

Go to Connect to

Click Set up a new connection

Click Set up a wireless connection between two computers (have your Wi-Fi button switched on now)

Follow instructions in the wizard.

If you have a router, click 'Set up a router or an access point' or 'Manually set up a wireless network' (recommended that you have a USB flash drive) instead of the two computers link.

If you use Win XP, do the following:

Click the start button and go to the Connect To (or similar) pop-up.

Go to wireless networks (or similar).

Set Up a network.
you would need to purchase a wireless router. connect both of them to the router and youll be able to see them in your network.

Communication between two computers?

Is it possible to communicate between two computers without having Network? I mean , is it possible to transfer data from one to another Computer using cables?

Communication between two computers?kawasaki

Yes, you can do this for to this you have network card in both system and cross cable of cat5. Then run the network setup wizard on both machines and share the folder you want to tranfer the data. Now you can access shared folders on either machine and copy paste your data

Yes, you can create crosslink parallel (or serial) cables. Or you can use the infrared ports. Or you can use the USB ports...

To make cables yourself you need the pinout for the port you want to make cables for. You can find pinouts at http://www.technick.net/public/code/pino...
you can use a cross over cat5 cable or you can use a usb cable
yes its possible..u just need a cat5 cross cable crimped with proper codes %26 connect it to RJ 45 connector. Thats it. Now ur Lan card setting can help u to communicate within 02 different computers only.
Yeah you can by doing peer to peer connections. Just cable them together and you can select what you want to be shared by right clicking the folder and sharing it...in simple terms because im at work and cant explain fully
By connecting two computers with a cable and communicating between them, you are creating a network.

So, no, but also yes.
If both machines have network connectors then you can join them with a crossover CAT5 cable, then run the network setup wizard on both machines and then you can access shared folders on either machine from either machine.
You can get an ethernet cable and set it up to share the connection. Then you can use windows XP or vista shared files to copy your files over.

My 14yo son and I want to find a computer game that we can play against each other on our own comput

My 14yo son and I want to find a computer game that he and I can play on our own computers. He has a desktop computer in his room upstairs and I have a laptop that I use downstairs. We both really enjoy shooter games like COD4 but we're open to other suggestions. Our computers aren't networked and neither one of us really understands the technical aspects of how this works so if you can help us that would be great.

Well, I was gonna suggest COD 4, but since you're already playing it, I'm thinking, maybe Battlefield? If you're into real-time strats, try Dark Crusade or Warcraft. Maybe you could go with World of Warcraft and/or other games similar like Ragnarok.
If you have an internet connection you guys can play a lot together. Some games you might like ill list below.

Warrock - Shooter (free!)

Rakion - fighting action (free!)

Counter strike - (cost a bit, but not much and a very good shooter)

Computers are damaging social skills - negative.?liveupdate

There was an interesting debate on a similar subject over at The Economist - in particular relating to social networking and education. They were basically arguing whether social networking was a positive or negative influence.... the positive argument won so you mind get some useful information there.

Computers are damaging social skills - negative.?nortin

I think there are strong arguments for both sides.

Computers are damaging social skills in many ways.

1. Decreased spelling ability for the average student, and over usage of acronyms (I'm at the crotchety old age of 24 and had all of this omfg, lmfao, ttyl B.S.)

2. Less direct social interaction. This is much more legit than my complain in the first point. When people come together socially and interact, there are much more ideas being communicated than simply the words expressed. The body language, the eye contact, the subtle unconscious reactions (blushing, flinching). ALL of these lead to a more accurate conveyance of an idea or story. When only email/text/IM is being utilized, it's reducing the amount of information being transferred. It makes it less personal, less real.

Unusual Question About Computers?

I have been checking the net and not found any answers to this, butthen again it is definitely not an everyday occurrance LOL

How many of you may remember years ago when sometimes someone could walk by a radio and it would cause static?? Or touch a TV antenna and create "snow" on the TV screen?? I'm one of those people that used to cause these things - my local corner coffee shop used to have my coffee ready and waiting for me, they knew I was coming as the radio would go all static!

Anyway, has anyone ever heard of someone like me causing problems with computers??

Oh stop laughing LOL...I'm serious...it' s the *only* thing I can think of to explain what happens to *every* computer I've ever had over the past 15 years or so...yup I said years! Programs, games slowing down or hanging, graphics "folding in on themselves", connection problems, and more. Do diagnostics or take in to have it checked, and nothing is ever found wrong! Get it going again, runs like a charm for a few days

Can someone thats good with computers and password help plzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!?norton 2008

use ophcrack , it will crack the password in about 10 mins

http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

you want the live cd , download and burn it to a disc (you know how to burn a disc image right?) then just put it into the locked comps drive and turn it on, it will start into the cd , tell it the password you want it to crack and it will get it for you.
is there more than one person that can log on?? if so log on under a different name and go into control panel and then go into user accounts from there should be options to change passwords (i have had to do it for my bro before- but you can only do this if there is more than 1 person that can log on and i also dont know what os you have (os - operating system)
You will need to get a program called erd. This program has a locksmith in it to chang the password to what you what it to be. It boots up on a cd-rom. This might help you out.
you should just keep guessing, use a system called erd, find someone who actually knows?
Reinstall the operating system.

Computers work too slow?norton antivirus 2007

More info would be very helpful. What OS? If Vista do not use Adaware (unless you want to give the Beta version a shot). Do you have a firewall? Do you have only one anti-virus program working? Did it get slower recently after a download? Did you switch to AVG 8.0 (much slower than 7.5)? Are you running Spybot (you should). Do you have sufficient hard drive space, sufficient ram, etc?
If the system is old contact somebody who knows about computers. Ask them for a 'back up and reinstalation of operating system.' this will remove all unwanted files, reset the Registry (this is what makes it slow.) and it should work like a new computer.
upgrade ur ram
Hi........

First of all, when your computer comes from the factory with it's default settings, it has been optimized to run properly. Over the time, as you add files and software - and just as importantly, remove files and software - your computer gets farther and farther away from it's optimal settings. To put this in perspective, it would be like adding parts to your car, and then removing some other parts and then adding more parts after that. Finally, your car doesn't run very well anymore.
