how many computers were sold worldwide

Computers sold worldwide 2004?download

You cannot know. Nobody can know.

Because many people like me build or upgrade by own. I never buy a computer. I have several comps built from parts and I upgrade boards and cpus when I find good deals. They are not registered anywhere to be counted.

if you are using Windows XP across the network, try using the remote desktop connection or vnc or ayudame. One of those should allow you to do what you want. remember....all of your network client PCs would require some installation of the server software for the machines you want to monitor / control

How do I get my computers to share files?

I have two computers connected in my house with a router, both wired, although they are wireless capable(no wireless cards, yet, just the router). How can I share files between the two computers? Can I use a web browser to browse through the HD of the other computer? Or am I going to have to do some sort of artificial server set-up?

How do I get my computers to share files?ducati

You have to run your set up a home or small office network wizard which is in your network connection window on the left side. You have to do this on both computers and make sure you give both computers the same work group name or they can't connect to each other. Then after you establish a connection between the to you just have to right click on the folders you want to share and go down to sharing and security and click on that and check share this folder, you can also check allow user you make changes so you can make changes to that folder from the opposite computer. Might sound complicated but it's not the wizard is easy to use and if you don't want to share a folder any more just go back through and uncheck share folder.

How to limit internet speed to specific computers on a network?

My household network consists of a router and 3 other computers connected to it. If I wanted to limit the download speed of a certain computer, what should I do? I can completely remove access to a computer in the router settings, but I only want to remove the power to Bit torrent for that computer.

Okay. to do such a thing you would need a higher class router.

You are looking into very advanced interfaces to do such a thing, and routers that can do that. are not regular all homes routers.

Another way, cheaper and free. is get utorrent.

www.utorrent.com

It lets you set how much "internet" or bandwidth you want the program to use.

Even for uploads.

So you can set it to maybe 100 kpbs for download, and 20 for upload. Doesn't affect anything but what u just told it to.

Good luck
An alternative solution is to actually use that PC you want to limit downloading speed and download and install a bandwidth limiting software on that PC.

You can search Yahoo for software like that. Bandwidth Limiter is such a program.
on the perticular port u just set the MTU. By default it is 1500. u set lower than that.

How do you network individual computers together to make one combined computer that is much better?

I have heard about computers being networked together in some fashion and am wondering how to do it myself. If this really is possible, are there any restriction, and how would I go about connecting them together. I am really hoping to find out how to do this because I have 4 old computers lying around that combined would have a 4GHz processor and over 3 GB of RAM. Please help!

It's not easy. Called clustered computing, requires technical skills, and the right stuff. You could start by looking at http://www.beowulf.org/ but honestly i don't think it's a great idea. You would need also programs that make use of that clustered solution.... and stay sure it's not office or any game.

OS X has XGrid, that makes thing less effort taking (the client is pre installed on every 10.4 machine), and it's simple to manage. Then again, you need to have software that makes use of that thing, and there is none, unless you write it yourself, suiting it to your needs.

|Building some parallel processing supercomputer out of kit you've got lying around would be so massively difficult and expensive that it's really not worth the bother. This kind of thing can't be done by someone at home with a few cables dude, give up on this one.

It does not work like that. Networking simply means you can share files and printers between the machines. What you would then have is 4 old computers doing exactly the same as before, just talking to each other as well.

Internet on 2 computers?

I have two pcs and i have a comcast cable modem,

1 desktop running XP pro

1 desktop running xp

1 Linksys NH105 5 port hub

2 Ethernet Adapter

1 cable modem connection

connection between 2 computers

How would I be able to share a DSL connection between 2 computers?

thanks

The best way would to get a router, not a hub. Otherwise you would have to enable internet sharing on the two pcs and having one pc connect thru the other pc to the internet. Again, using a router would be the best route for you to take.

For dsl, any router will still work, but DSL is slower, and depending on the isp, you might be limited to one computer at once.
You should be able to hook up both computers through ethernet to the linksys hub.

But if you have the ethernet adapters you need a router, it is better if i walk you through it, but you will need the username and password for the acct. that you have with you internet provider and you must be able to bridge the modem and then put the router in PPPoE. Your internet provider should talk you through it with the help of the provider of your router. I can get you online, but you need to have that information. Contact me at bridgette81460@yahoo.com. Will not charge you, just to talk you through it.
First do the cable coding.

2.) COllect the hardware,Router u can also use the switch,Modem, etc.

3.)connect your internet cable to the modem.

from modem to your router or switch, give the proper IPs to both the computers.

U should require to do the Cable coding according to the IEEE. i.e. Straight cable coding for CAT-5 cable with the RJ-45 connector.
