If I connect two computers to internet through router (meaning they are both getting service from the same internet modem) would both of those computers have the same IP address?

Yes they both have the same Internet address but they have different port numbers. This is called Network Address Translation or NAT. The router handles all of this for you.

There are 2 kinds of IP address "Public" and "Private."



Those two computers connected to your router share a single "Public" IP address. This was assigned or given by your ISP.



And also those two computers should have different or unique "Private" IP address to avoid confict if to be used at the same time.
