I am planning on buying my Husband a computer for Christmas, and wanted to know if these computers were any good. Please Help, because I'm clueless with these things. Thanks!!

To be quite honest no. One of my closest friends fathers is a Big wig here at the Massachusetts Compaq/HP Plant who shall remain nameless. And All of the computers within his OWN house are dells. The Compaq/HP's are very poorly Built and mostly require Parts Exclusively from HP/Compaq which to you as a consumer means if it breaks out of warranty your repairs will cost 3X what they should.

I have never had one, but almost bought one last month. Friends told me that they are junk. So I changed my mind. I think you would be much better off spending a little more and getting an HP or Dell or something else. Basically compaqs are cheap because they aren't good computers. If you are going to buy one get one that is at least going to perform adequately. Roughly $500.00 isn't worth buying something that is going to take up room in your house as junk that dosen't work well. Spend a couple hundred more and get a good computer that will perform.
Also, I never had a MAC, but I am told that they are the best. All of my friends that have had them never want to go back to a PC.
