Will computers ever surpass human intelligence?vista
When someone figures out a way to denote every human emotion in terms of pure math, when someone figures out a way to denote every human reasoning in terms of pure math, most of the barriers in making a computer intelligence surpass human intelligence should be passed.
If there is a way for things like wikipedia, youtube, facebook and various such places to have a will of their own, to find out an undeniable reason for their very existence(perhaps there is already one in the pipeline -- machines can be made to survive the negative impacts of global warming, should all human efforts against it fail), and there are enough resources to codify them in a computer language, YES -- a machine's intelligence can surpass its human counterpart.
Things like planning and building massive projects like a ship, space shuttle, computer programs, tunnels, sky scrapers mean if many men work together(pooling their ideas), things that would otherwise be impossible can be achieved. If that focus turns towards building a computer intelligence, I see nothing stopping a computer's intelligence surpassing human intelligence. But that intelligence will only be as smart as the total smartness of the people who built it. That is how the beginning will be. Humble.
