Can you connect two computers with a phone line?

I can find like 3 or 4 jacks on the back of both of my computers and the phone line will fit into all of them. Is there a way to connect the two computers together to share folders and stuff? Do I need to configure some kind of connection in my network connections? I don't want to know about LAN cables or anything cause I don't have one of them. I just want to know about a phone line.

It can be done, but its rather cumbersome and doesn't generally work well. What you should do is see if some of those jacks are "bigger" than the phone line (IE RJ45 jacks for network cable) if you can find one on each computer you can buy a network crossover cable and hook them together with that. Phone line will plug into an RJ45 plug but you'll be able to see that the jack is much larger than the phone line. From there if you have windows XP you can go into your network settings in your control panel and pick set up a home network, it should guide you through step by step setting up each computer, if not you can always post back with where you're at and we can try and help. A crossover cable is pretty cheap and will be WAY faster and easier than using modems and phone line.

No. you cannot use phonecords to connect 2 computers together. If you plug them into the ethernet (network) card while in a phonejack on your wall, it will most likely FRY something.

You can use a network cable (aka cat5, cat5e, or cat6) either crossover (direct connection from computer to computer) or two standard network cables connected to a router.
Only if the computers have a modem build in. Without a modem you cannot use a phone line to connect 2 computers.

There are many other ways though to connect computers but since you don't want to know about them I can't help you any further.
