SLOW COMPUTERS , opening files takes a life?

Im running 14 XP computers and 12 of them are ok, but two of them take a lot to right click or open a simple .txt file, not to menction any bigger file. the funny thing is that if I open a program it opens, if I open a file through the program it opens ok, but if I try in the WExplorer to open it or ti right click on it it will take a full 5 minutes to react.

im running dr spyware, MS defender, NAV EE 8.1 (uptodate), and registry cleaners. even the msconfig is set to open zero programs at starup. not helped.

nothing helps, the taskmanager performance is 15% and not larger that 30 % (at max)

really, I've done everything but to reinstall. precisely what I don want to. one of them is the owner麓s (hehe)

ANY SUGGESTIONS, ??

tnx in advance

You have given a good lot of information. But, you missed out the Hardware configurations of those systems.

Running XP on today's systems is OK. But if you are running XP on older systems with less configurations, it just slows down the PCs.

XP eats away the memory with those eye-candy graphics and visually pleasing screens. This makes the PC slowest. That too you are running those security-purpose applications which also eat away memory.

These programs start at the boot time and slows down the processing time. These programs are intelligent enough to not to make an entry into the startup programs list.
