I have the following setup.
Linksys WRT54Gv6 router connected WIRED to 2 computers(one a desktop and one a laptop).
I would like to know if there was a way if I had a shared folder on my desktop pc - if the files contained within the directory could be accessible on the laptop even when the laptop is disconnected from the network(i.e if someway when the laptop is connected to the network - it will download to its HD the contents of the shared directory on the desktop pc.)
p.s. I dont want to use a remote access service such as gotomypc or logmein
Thanks
Can I network 2 computers so shared files will be accessible to both computers even when 1 PC is disconnected?microsoft
Hi ssch18,
No, the laptop has to be connected to share the folder.
If you copy them to the laptop it would have them.
You can get a file sync program that will sync the folders on the laptop when ever you connect.
Go here for several file sync programs. You can read about them %26 download one if you decide it is what you want. - http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html...

No, not when the laptop is disconnected. However, you can use software such as SyncToy that will keep a directory on the laptop up to date with one on the desktop. For example, anytime you save a file into a specific folder on the desktop, it will automatically be transfered to the laptop, providing the laptop is connected to the network.
