Twin Computers one problem.?

I have two identical computers (Median) On one of them I have an error 39. There is a DVD-R drive and a DVD-RW physically installed. I can't see them on "My PC" and they don't read discs. Troubleshoot ? How ?

Twin Computers one problem.?windows

CHeck the ide cable connections to the drives and to the board also check the jump settings cause both can't be master sometimes they will not even show up one slave one master even try taking it all out and putting it back in sometimes dust could be in the cable connections blocking communication

I would check to make sure that 1 is set to master and the other to slave, or that both are set to cable select. This is located on the back of each optical drive usually right nect to the power plugin. if they are both set to Master for instance than in some cases neither will show up.
Try going to the control panel and use the New Hardware wizard. If they are connected properly (check to make sure they have a power connection and an IDE cable connection) the wiz will find them. Some older OS's (WIN98 or earlier) will not be compatible with a DVD.
