Best computers!?

Please could you advise me on the best desk top computers as im thinking of buying one in the new year.

I love my Gateway. Their support is outstanding, and I rarely have any problems. Also, they have a good balance of memory, etc for all around use.

Do NOT get an e-machines. I know they are cheaper, which can be tempting, but having owned one of these horrors I would not recommend to anyone. They crash constantly, and if you get one years worth of use, you'll be lucky.

i've built a couple of systems for myself and family members but for a turn-key system that you can buy and put to work. i like gateway i've bought both a laptop and a desk top from gateway and as the young lady above said gateways customer support is better than any other company i've had dealings with.

You can get a tower for under $520 which has 1 gig of ram and a 250 gig hard drive.
The best computer is the one you build yourself...i wouldn't trust anyone building my computer for me. Alienware is the biggest waste of money ever...it's an overpriced dell in a flashy case.
most of us on here build our own systems as we all know the horrors of pre-built systems by certain company's, if you have no experience in building a system then stay with HP like the HP s3230.UK Desktop PC with 19" HP w1907v 19'' Wide Flat Panel Monitor Available for only 拢572 inc.VAT. this has all you need and more or you could go for Windows XP systems instead of Vista, the choice is yours. ctc
Hi,

if you want to save a few "Bucks" just buy a "Bare Bones" system and install your our software it's easy and save about 50% of the cost as well. hope this helps you.
It honestly depends on what your budget and purpose are. Alienware computers are excellent for gaming. Dells and HPs are good for mid-range desktops. Asus is decent for low-end.

Good luck!
