Vist doesn't show other computers on network map?

I am using windows vista on one of my computer in network. remaining are winxp .i cannot see other computers in network map.i can see through IP and i can share as well.but its not showing in network map.

The other computers should show up under network connections for Vista. You also need to make sure that you have all the computers set up to talk to one another.



I did this with Vista about 2 months ago. Couldnt get it to work before, then it worked. I think Vista gave the other computers a kick in the rump to get moving.

After that, if you can't see the computers, read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120
Go to Network and Sharing Center which is located in Control Panel.



Click on Customize which would be right next to your network name.



When you do that Set Network Location window opens up, here select Private and click on next and on the following screen click on close.



After doing this you should be able to see all the computers on your network.
This problem occurs if the Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder component is not installed on the Windows XP-based computer.
