Using one router for two computers.?

We have two computers. We have cable thru a provider and are paying for two accounts. Can we use our router for both computers and just pay for one account?

Yes, you can. That's the whole intent of the router. It becomes the device connected to the cable internet and then essentially shares it with all of the computers on your home network. It acts as a gateway between your home network and the cable Internet.



The bandwidth is shared, but you don't get half per machine. It will depend on how much each PC is using it at a given moment. Each would be capable of reaching the full limit of the Internet service. If both are doing a bunch of downloads or video streaming online then it's more likely that each PC would reaching only half of the Internet bandwidth. If one is checking email and the other is downloading files, the one downloading will likely be getting close to 100% speed.
