2 modems 2 computers?

1 have 2 computers. the downstaires on alrady has one.

if i buy another modem and put it on my upstairs one is that possible?

so like can both of my computers each have thier own modem.

i have comcast.

you need a router so you can connect the other computer wireless to the modem-router connection.

connecting another modem to another phone jack with the same dsl line will not work. there should be only 1 modem connected to a dsl line.unless of course the jack you're trying to connect another modem is running another dsl line(which means subscribed with another dsl line)

there are some modem which is a router at the same time like 2wire modems that you can use 2 2wire modems connected on the same dsl line on different jack. the other serve as an extender.but that's another story.

so in your case i would suggest getting a router so you can have multiple wireless connection. the wireless range would by the way depends on the router. some can get to 100feet, 350feet and maybe some even more.

another suggestion. give your internet service provider a call on what router they support and is the best they offer. in case you have technical problem you can just call their tech support for assistance and they should be able to help you. unless of course you a non-supported product.hehehe
