this probably won't make any sense but its worth a shot. i can't get any sound on my computer. the actual thing beeps when i switch it on but nothing ever comes through the speakers. will this simply be that my speakers are broken(although they're not old and dont see why they'd be damaged now), or could there be a setting somewhere on my computer that needs changing.
Hands up i'm hopeless with computers so any suggestions please make fool proof.
if you're kind enough to try and help me i'll keep adding additional details to letyou know if your suggestions are working or not. or to answer any questions.

You'll want to figure out if it's your speakers or if it's your computer that's the problem.
First test the speakers, if they are standard speakers you can plug them into another computer or a CD player. If sound comes out then, yayyy your speakers aren't broke.
Second if computer, make sure you plugged into right hole and your audio is not muted in your sound settings. You can always test with a music CD in your computer and play the disc and test the soundcard or sound settings in your computers operating system.
