How do you connect 2 computers to share files?

Both computers connect to the internet with the same wireless router. We work together and want to share files. I made the folder available to share but I dont see it on the other computer. Do I need to have a hard wire (ethernet cord) to both computers?

Since both computers are connected to the same wirless router, it should be possible to share the folders. Use the network configuration wizard in my network places to configure it.

Both computers have to be in the same work group name to see the share.

right click my computer

properties

computer name

change

make the workgroup name identical on both pc's.

Once you do that, lets say computerA has the shared folder.

On computerB:

start

run

\\computera

should show the shared folder and be able to access it.

If access denied, turn on the guest account on computera.
make or buy a crossover cable, and enable file and printer sharing in your windows firewall!!
